Simulation Lab and POCUS Training
The Center for Advanced Simulation, Training and Learning (CASTLe) at Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center (MMC)
Using a high fidelity mannequin and state of the art technology, CASTLe delivers simulation and learning experiences in support of MMC's safety and quality initiatives, graduate medical education programs and nursing educational programs.
Interdisciplinary team members including IM, FM, dentistry residents and nurses are trained in high stakes medical scenarios such as but not limited to:
- cardiac arrest management and providing quality CPR
- responding to rapids
- sepsis identification and management
- stroke identification and management
- anaphylaxis management
- commonly encountered conditions such as CHF, COPD, atrial fibrillation, GI bleed
- reduction of hospital acquired infections
- procedure training such as central venous catheter insertion
- and intubations
- Peripheral IV insertions
- Wound care
- Obstetric management
CASTLe provides the highest quality care for patients through POCUS (point of care ultrasound) training. Learners have the opportunity to learn bedside ultrasound techniques, and independently validate their POCUS knowledge, application, and proficiency.
