Family Medicine

Keun Soo Kwon, M.D.

Pursuing a residency in Family Medicine allows me to give back to the community that has provided me with so much.  Growing up in the area, I have encountered a diverse group of people, culture, and experiences that shaped me into the person I am today.  As such, there was no doubt that this was where I wanted to train and eventually serve as a physician.   Choosing Hackensack UMC Mountainside Family Medicine Residency program as the provenance of my professional training was the best decision that I have made.

Joel Maruthanal, M.D., Chief Resident

Although I interviewed virtually, I, and anyone for that matter, could feel the family energy exuded by HackensackUMC Mountainside FM Residency Program. When looking at residencies, many factors come into play. For me, I was hoping to join a residency that will provide excellent education, has fantastic mentorship, and that was close to home. The Mountainside FM residency Program has all those qualities and more. This can clearly be seen through the past and current residents. It was a joy discussing how residency was for them and for them to wholeheartedly recommend coming here.

Claudia Chen, M.D.

Having rotated at Mountainside Family Medicine as a medical student, I saw how tight knit the residents, faculty, and staff members were. The camaraderie amongst the residents, the vast knowledge of the attendings, and the helpfulness of staff really drew me in. Since the first day of residency, I felt immensely supported by everyone in the program and am grateful to call this place my home for the next three years.

Zachary Parente, M.D.

I chose Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Family Medicine Residency because the program has a tremendous amount of medical and professional training opportunities. With experienced and compassionate faculty, residents have the opportunity to learn from seasoned physicians with a patient centered approach to care. The diverse patient population ensures residents become culturally competent physicians and the opportunities for community outreach allow me to serve the community in which I live.
