A Message from the Program Director

PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency

Welcome to the Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency website, we appreciate you taking the time to learn more about our program.

About Mountainside’s PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency

Our 12-month program will provide a well-rounded training experience, offering you the opportunity to further develop your clinical and leadership skills while exploring the many facets of hospital pharmacy practice. Over the course of the residency year, you’ll engage in a variety of patient care rotational experiences with opportunities for patient care interactions, as well as with various medical team members via multidisciplinary rounds.

During your experiences you will have the benefit of being supported by state-of-the-art pharmaceutical technologies, including automated dispensing cabinets & a fully integrated electronic medical record (EPIC) with bedside barcoding. In addition, our clinical pharmacy specialists serving as preceptors have robust experience, many having also completed a residency themselves, as well as having Family Practice & Internal Medicine Medical Residents, thus fostering a supportive learning environment.

Ultimately, the primary goal of our residency program is to provide our resident(s) with practical clinical training, as well as exposure to the research & administrative aspects of pharmacy practice. This will allow our resident(s) to build medication management skills & optimize the role of the pharmacist in patient-centered care.

If Mountainside’s PGY-1 Residency becomes your next stop on your professional journey, I’ll devote my energy, experience, and institutional resources to your training & together, we’ll do the difficult but rewarding work required to prepare you for a career in clinical pharmacy practice.

Sincerely,

Richard Adamczyk B.S., MPH, Pharm.D.
