Ambulatory/Adult Health Center
Next door to the hospital, is the Adult Health Center, where the Mountainside Internal Medicine Residency delivers optimal ambulatory care. We adhere to a 6 + 2 structure, where each resident will cycle through the clinic for two weeks, every six weeks. This is done to ensure continuity of care is delivered to our outpatients. Within this block, residents balance direct patient visits (roughly eight clinic half-day sessions) with structured time for essential tasks such as medication refills, chart updates, and care coordination. Continuity is a cornerstone of our clinic experience—we make every effort to pair residents with the same patients over time, fostering long-term relationships and deeper learning. Ambulatory education is further enriched by a half day each week of protected didactic sessions, alongside dedicated time to pursue individual quality improvement projects.
Of the two weekends in each ambulatory block, one is a golden weekend (completely free), while the other includes a single overnight shift covering the night float team—ensuring balance between clinical responsibility and much-needed time off.
