There were three things I looked for while on the interview trail: location, learning, and laughing. I wanted to live near my family, train at a program that best complements my learning style, and work in a friendly atmosphere. I picked Mountainside because it meets all that and more. I was initially struck by how much the program values residents’ well-being which I believe is essential in providing quality patient-centered care. I also like how the program is structured to seamlessly integrate protected learning time into a busy day through morning and afternoon conferences. However, my favorite thing about the program is the warm and dynamic atmosphere formed by a diverse group of residents. I’ve moved over fifteen times in my life, but never felt so quickly at home as I have here at Mountainside. I am very grateful to be part of a program with such inspiring, dedicated, and supportive attendings, residents, and staff. I’m looking forward to a memorable few years and have no doubt the opportunities here will help us grow into well-rounded physicians.
