Dr. Yu is a graduate of Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology (Yeshiva University), where she earned a combined Psy.D. in school and clinical psychology. She also holds a Master's in Special Education and taught secondary special education in Chicago prior to pursuing her doctoral degree. Dr. Yu specializes in the treatment and evaluation of children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She has worked with a range of culturally and diagnostically diverse individuals in a variety of settings, including schools, outpatient clinics, and inpatient hospitals. In addition to receiving training at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, Dr. Yu completed her pre-doctoral internship at Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, NY and her post-doctoral fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Prior to joining the faculty here at Mountainside Family Medicine Residency Program, she was the integrated pediatric psychologist at a pediatric clinic in her home state of Massachusetts, where she provided behavioral health consultation, risk assessment/crisis management, and brief psychotherapy to children, parents, and families. Dr. Yu believes in using an integrative, individualized approach with her clients. Above all, she values attention to each individual’s needs, fostering of the therapeutic alliance, and flexibility in therapy. She is passionate about supporting the social-emotional well being of medical students and residents, as well as fostering their knowledge and use of behavioral health concepts and techniques in order to better support the patients whom they serve.
